4 week Flamenco Structure and Beginner Dance sessions with Marija Temo
(for Adults)

When: Sundays, Jan. 17- Feb. 7, 2016 (Feb. 14- make up date for weather or teacher cancellation)


“Flamenco Structure Class” (on Dance & Song Forms, and Guitar accompaniment)

Sundays: 9:00- 10:00a.m.
Early registration cost: $80 for 4 weeks ($20 per class),
Early registration cost: $150 for both Structure & Dance Classes
Drop in rate per class: $25
*Open and recommended for dancers, guitarists, and singer
enthusiasts.

“Beginner Flamenco Dance Class”

Sundays: 10:00- 11:00a.m.
Early registration cost: $80 for 4 weeks ($20 per class)
Early registration cost: $150 for both Structure & Dance Classes
Drop in rate per class: $25
Fee for Guitarists & Singers for dance class: $10

*Guitarists & Singers are encouraged to practice basic accompanimental patterns with hand claps and play along with Marija Temo
No instruction specific to singers and guitarists will be provided but if you have an interest, we can discuss setting up a guitar accompaniment and singing class.

(Classes will have live flamenco guitar and singing accompaniment by Marija Temo and use recordings.)

Deadline for early registration payment is Jan. 13, 2016, (5 people minimum needed to offer the class), after 5 people are registered and pre-paid, others may pay the drop in rate at the door or online.

Note: These classes can be continuous based on your registration and advanced payment.  5 people minimum needed for classes to occur.  Registration: Contact Marija Temo to sign up.

  • Flamenco Structure Class description:
This class will be an in depth study, breakdown and understanding on flamenco forms.  Topics covered will be rhythms and common variations, the order of events that occur in dance (singing verses, footwork sections, signals, terminology used, options in structure); song structure (what to listen for & how to follow singing, what to do during the singing, how the singing interacts with dance and guitar); guitar structure and accompaniment (what to listen for in guitar accompaniment, what chords are used in dance and song accompaniment, guitar melodies, and how to accompany dance and song.) Purpose of class is to observe and develop your knowledge and ear training skills. Note taking is recommended.  Live demonstration in dance, guitar, and singing by Marija Temo. Video and recordings will be used as well.

 

  • Beginner Flamenco Dance Classes

Learn flamenco dance technique (steps, marking, footwork, arm movements) rhythms, application to dance and song structure. All classes with live guitar and singing accompaniment by Marija Temo.

Notes: Liability waiver will need to be signed not holding Marija Temo or Danceworks liable for any personal injury or personal property damage that may occur for the time you enter, during the class, and leave the premises. Also, street shoes need to be left in the lobby or on the studio rug right inside of the door, as to not track salt and wet shoes onto the dance floor.

Attire:
Leotard or fitted top
Skirt/fitted pants/ or exercise pants
Toe covered shoe with thick heel (preferred: character dance shoe or flamenco shoe: Boys/Men: short flexible boot).

Character shoes are only available on this site. Type in flamenco shoes and they will shoe different styles of character shoes.

Sansha:
Flamenco Shoes:
From what I have heard, Sansha runs small (like one shoe size smaller than street shoe). Be sure to check sizing and talk to Customer Service before purchasing.
