AKRON. OHIO native Marija Temo is a flamenco guitarist who has been working with luthier Tom Rodriguez to create a hybrid classical-flamenco model guitar. In addition to writing a forthcoming flamenco method book for Mel Bay which will feature her unique notation system for reading flamenco rhythms. Her third CD will be released later this year featuring works for guitar in the flamenco/classical style with solo flamenco vocal and guitar arrangements of popular Latin American songs. She was the featured artist in an award-winning television commercial for GE Capital and Taylor Guitars that had her serve as a flamenco-playing body double for GE Capital sales executive Deb Barker. This is a 1970 Manuel Contreras classical guitar. The guitar has been signed by the Luthier in pen. This is visible inside the sound hole. (see photo) I bought the instrument in 1987 and had a tap-plate placed on for playing Flamenco. The action is excellent to play both flamenco and classical styles. The guitar is in overall good condition.
This guitar has a 26″ scale length.
The top is Spruce.
The back and sides are Brazilian Rosewood.
Fingerboard is Ebony.

Marija Temo recently returned from the Taylor Guitar Factory invited by Bob Taylor to be a part of his latest venture in learning to build a classical guitar. It was thrilling to watch he and his team build a classical guitar as well as apply Bob Taylor’s NT guitar neck to them. Pepe Romero Jr. was the luthier to help guide in the building process. Marija Temo and Pepe Romero Sr. played and checked out the different types of classical guitars built that week. Writer’s from Acousic Guitar Magazine also showed up and Marija was videod by them performing a few numbers. It was a wonderful week. Bob Taylor wrote about the experience and made some beautiful comments about Marija in his Taylor Guitar Blog. Also, check out some photos that will be posted soon on Marija’s Facebook Fan Page.
This week was one to remember. I’d been looking forward to August 9 because I’d organized a guitar camp, of sorts. You might be thinking, “What? Bob held a guitar camp for his customers and he didn’t announce it so I could come?”
