Marija Temo presents Flamenco Amazement, a lecture-presentation of flamenco guitar, singing, and dance for children, teens, and adults with active audience participation.
I am looking forward to presenting for the second time at this school. The students are wonderful and I applaud the Spanish teachers for their enthusiasm and determination in wanting students experience a different musical culture. Thank you for the opportunity to share.
Location: St. Elizabeth Catholic School for grades 3-8.
Today, I had such a fulfilling experience, offering an introductory flamenco dance class to very talented dancers @Design In Motion Dance Studio’s Summer Intensive, in Gambrills, MD. These young students experience many different styles of dance from different instructors for one week starting at 9:00a.m.- 4:00p.m. Thank you Hannah Engelke for wanting to expose these young dancers to flamenco and allowing me to share my love of the art form with them. See my facebook fan page for photos.
Marija Temo presents her Flamenco Amazement program to 700 students at Arundel High School in Gambrills, MD.
Nov. 14, Thursday
Closed to the public
Flamenco Amazement is a 45- 50 minute (flamenco guitar, singing, and dance) lecture-presentation for children, teens, and adults with active audience participation, presented by Marija Temo. Flamenco Amazement is offered to Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, Colleges, Library Programs, Retirement Programs, Children and Adult Music Series Programs.
Temo traces the lineage of how flamenco began and demonstrates emotions conveyed through flamenco forms. She presents fiery guitar strumming patterns and techniques, haunting vocals, and percussive dance footwork. Audiences participate in learning rhythmic handclaps, shout words in Spanish, sing a melody, try a few dance steps with flamenco accessories, and at the end perform it altogether.
