A course for anyone interested in learning about Alegrias structure and for all levels of dancers, guitarists, and singers. This series also invites those who wish to try out their material as it coincides with the topic of the week. Feedback will be given to help you better understand how to execute and improve the communication in your steps, letra, and accompaniment with clarity. Each part of the structure of Alegrias and it’s options will be covered as it is danced.

This year’s flamenco communication intensive will be hosted in Cleveland Hts., Ohio, featuring two guest flamenco dance artists of completely different styles, Alice Blumenfeld and La Romera, along with Marija Temo, dance coach and flamenco guitarist and singer.

Experience the heart and soul of flamenco in this 90-minute juerga (flamenco fiesta) style workshop, led by internationally acclaimed flamenco artist Marija Temo. This session offers a rare opportunity to dive deep into the art of Bulerías, focusing on the essential communication and interplay between musicians and dancers in an authentic fiesta setting.
Marija will guide participants through the dynamic relationship between cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), baile (dancing), and palmas (rhythmic hand clapping). Marija’s Communication Course was offered for 10 years consecutively at the University of New Mexico International Flamenco Festival, at the Toronto International Flamenco Festival, and reviewed in magazines such as Flamenco USA, Flamenco International (London, England), and Dance Magazine. Marija’s method continues to be in demand in the US and abroad.
