Marija Temo will be a guest soloist with the Parma Symphony Orchestra, performing “Tango Fantasy” a work written for Marija Temo by Loris Chobanian that combines the characteristic qualities of both the Argentinean Tango and the Flamenco Tango of Andalusia. This will indeed be a special and momentous occasion in that the composer, Loris Chobanian, will be conducting his own work with Marija Temo performing.
On a personal note: Loris was my undergraduate guitar professor when I attended Baldwin-Wallace College, and I am looking so forward to reuniting with him for this event. A special thank you to Dr. Randolph P. Laycock, Music Director of the Parma Symphony, and Joe Germana, Business Manager.

This Sat., Nov. 16, 2013, at 2:00p.m., a Flamenco Documentary, on The History of Flamenco in the US, will be showing in D.C.
I, along with other accomplished D.C. flamenco artists (as well as a mentor/colleague of mine, Manolo Leiva, who passed away last year) will also be featured in the film.
The director, Carolina Loyola- Garcia, has put her passion for flamenco, determined efforts in traveling throughout the US, and talents as a director and interviewer to compile and present Sobre las Olas- a story of flamenco in the US. If you are able to attend, it would be wonderful to support her efforts. Read More »
Marija Temo presents her Flamenco Amazement program to 700 students at Arundel High School in Gambrills, MD.
Nov. 14, Thursday
Closed to the public
Flamenco Amazement is a 45- 50 minute (flamenco guitar, singing, and dance) lecture-presentation for children, teens, and adults with active audience participation, presented by Marija Temo. Flamenco Amazement is offered to Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, Colleges, Library Programs, Retirement Programs, Children and Adult Music Series Programs.
Temo traces the lineage of how flamenco began and demonstrates emotions conveyed through flamenco forms. She presents fiery guitar strumming patterns and techniques, haunting vocals, and percussive dance footwork. Audiences participate in learning rhythmic handclaps, shout words in Spanish, sing a melody, try a few dance steps with flamenco accessories, and at the end perform it altogether.
