Workshop Description:
Learn fundamental rhythmic accents and how to vary them, structures of some Tangos letras, vocal techniques in sounding flamenco, how to vary the cante rhythmically and melodically, how to musically convey proper chordal accompaniment to guitarists and the type of letra structure you are singing to both guitarists and dancers, and how cante improvisation works with guitar and dance.
Marija’s approach to flamenco singing starts from a classical technique base so students learn proper vocal skills in how to increase their range, project, produce good tone, and learn not strain their voice. Flamenco style is taught by learning how to manipulate the classical vocal techniques to sound flamenco. Participants are recommended to bring paper and pens. Audio recording allowed. Any video recording or internet posting must have Artist’s approval.
