Flamenco Coaching Intensive in Structure and Improvisation
Marija Temo’s out of state students from (GA, KY, OH, & VA) in guitar, song, and dance, to be coached together

Schedule: (Thurs- Sun) 10/15- 18/15 

Thurs., Oct. 15, 2015 (Naperville, IL)

Students arrive from the different Chicago airports

12:00- 4:00p.m. Temo out of state students: Semi-privates and small group coaching of 3 people with the palos they have chosen: Tangos de Malaga and Siguiriyas for those arriving 12:00- 4:00p.m.

The remaining group of students arrive at hotel. We all check in at hotel.

Fri., Oct. 16, 2015 (Chicago, IL)

One day opportunity to accompany guest Contemporary Flamenco Dancer, Wendy Clinard
10:00a.m- 6:45p.m.

Palos to be covered: Tangos, Bulerias, Solea, Solea por Bulerias, maybe Alegrias

Flamenco Survival:
Run through with no stops, letra after letra according to Wendy’s improvised structure.
2nd run through, stop & address issues that come up with Wendy to be worked on in each category

Singer focus: Letra structure and musical interpretation with melodic and rhythmic variations to baile and how to lead guitarists

Guitar focus: Calls, and rhythmic and melodic aire to dance accompaniment

Baile focus: Dancer receives feedback from Wendy on their choreography and ability to be clear in structure, technique, how to follow letra structure, and musically respond to letras not heard before.

(Each Guitarist and Singer will also receive 15″ of individual accompanying time with feedback for Tangos and Bulerias.)
(Group feedback will be given for the other palos.)

(Dancers & Singers will receive coaching on Palmas (how to follow, when to help lead, and how to play musically) during the times they are not participating.)

Juerga (Flamenco Party) open to all guitarists, dancers, and singers, (professionals and students), and children, all welcome!

I have recently moved this past year to Wisconsin and have had the opportunity to meet and work with a few of the flamenco teachers, performers, and students in the community. I would like to meet and/or reconnect with all of you and create an opportunity for my out of state students and I to jam with you and the other flamencos in the area.

What to bring: Pot luck (bring a dish to share) and bring your guitars, dance shoes, cajons, and vocal cords

• Update: Slots now filled but there is availability for Sunday still- open for local flamencos to work with Temo students and receive coaching from M. Temo).
• Privates with Temo are available during these times as well.
• All local flamenco enthusiasts may observe at no cost.
• Dinner in Naperville, IL and all local flamencos and Naperville Flamencos are welcome!

Try out your choreography, letra, guitar skills, and palmas for feedback on what to listen for, how to follow or lead, convey structure clearly,and interpret and react musically, which allows you the beginnings of improvisation.

Guitarists with singers and/or dancer
Singers with guitarists and/or dancer

1:00p.m.- 5:45p.m. Students depart for airport and Coaching will occur for those who remain until 5:45p.m. (2 guitarists and 1 singer)
