This is a 1970 Manuel Contreras classical guitar. The guitar has been signed by the Luthier in pen. This is visible inside the sound hole. (see photo) I bought the instrument in 1987 and had a tap-plate placed on for playing Flamenco. The action is excellent to play both flamenco and classical styles. The guitar is in overall good condition.
This guitar has a 26″ scale length.
The top is Spruce.
The back and sides are Brazilian Rosewood.
Fingerboard is Ebony.
Please take note of the following items however, all which can be seen in the photos below.
The finish is worn in some places around the sound hole. There is crack below the bridge that was there when I first bought the instrument in the late 80’s. Throughout the years I had the crack repaired. I recently had it checked and all is good. It remains solid. The bridge has been adjusted slightly in it’s early history. There are some hairline cracks in the varnish on the back. Varnish is worn a bit on the heel. This guitar has been played and cared for. It shows some typical playing marks and light marks here and there. Overall, the guitar is in fantastic shape, plays true, and sounds amazing. The body and sound are more of a classical guitar but the neck has lower action for both the left hand and right hand giving it a flamenco feel. This is a truly awesome instrument to play. It will be an excellent instrument for a player or collector.
The guitar includes a nice hardshell case that is in good condition as well. The case the guitar originally came in when I bought it can be included optionally by the buyer at no cost. (Note that the hinges need to be fixed and I am not certain if this is the case the guitar originally came in when it was made.)
In addition to the price of the guitar, buyer will have to cover the shipping expenses for the guitar and case(s). The guitar is sold as is and I do not accept returns. I am happy to answer any questions you may have before buying. Email me to set up a time to discuss price and any details. I am hoping this guitar will go to someone that will appreciate the instrument and the craftsmanship that went into it.- Thank you, Marija Temo

Marija: What are you asking for your Contreras? Also, can the tap plate be removed without damage to the guitar or is it pretty much permanent now? Thanks. Steve

Hello Steve, thank you for writing in. I am asking $5500. You probably could have the tap plate removed, but I wouldn’t recommend it. This current tap plate is new, and I believe it was put on a about a year ago when I wanted to have the guitar completely looked over and have it ready for sale. Over the years, I put in a lot of knicks and dents on the top just from my playing and have had a few tap plates put on and removed which caused enough cosmetic damage that a colored tap plate was needed at this point. Feel free to write in for any other questions.
